About me

Born in Llandovery, raised in the hills, surrounded by beauty. I am based up in those very hills just outside Llandovery and I am constantly inspired by my beautiful surroundings. I have a wonderful art studio in the shape of an old railway carriage based in the front garden. From here, I work and hold various creative workshops throughout the year. I am a member of the Tywi Valley Open Studios Arts Trail, in which I open my studio doors to the public, giving them an opportunity to see how and where I work plus a chance to see my artworks up close. I have also been attending local markets and craft fairs over the last year or so. It is a great way to show my work and meet my customers. I class myself as a self taught multiple medium artist. I use acrylic and watercolour paints, gouache, oils, inks, pen and pencil, air dry clay for ooak crafts. I also enjoy jewellery making, needle felting, decoupage and image transfer, lino printing, pyrography, pressed flower art, weaving and cyanotypes. As you can tell, I love allsorts!

Over the past 15 years, along with bringing up my two children, I have run my preloved/reloved furniture and homewares business 'MissElaineous', where I have used a variety of painting techniques to transform neglected pieces. Not only has this given me an income, it has given me the confidence to use these skills as an artist. I have a passion for flowers, roses to be specific, as well as landscapes and seascapes.

My work has been described as uplifting and emotive. I enjoy the bold colours and textures of acrylics and oils and I also love the delicate nature of watercolours. With a backround of creative vocations such as floral art, graphic design and reloved furniture, I have clocked up many artistic years! My work is available to purchase straight from the studio, via Facebook, Instagram and via Etsy and Folksy. Also have a few selected pieces available at The Inside Out Gallery in Llandovery.
Recent solo exhibition based at Barry Hospital via The Hearth Gallery, Cardiff and Cardiff & Vale University Health Boards 'Arts for Health & Wellbeing' programme. It is an absolute pleasure to be able to showcase my work in such a setting and I hope that it has a positive impact and that others can be inspired to use art and crafts for their own health & wellbeing.
I have also exhibited in Llanwrtyd and District Heritage & Arts Centre with their recent open art competition.
Currently exhibiting in The Hearth Gallery in Cardiff.
