About me

Hi! I'm Elaine JonesBorn in Llandovery, raised in the hills, surrounded by beauty. I am based up in those very hills just outside Llandovery and I am constantly inspired by my beautiful surroundings. I have a wonderful art studio in the shape of an old railway carriage based in the front garden. From here, I work and hold various creative workshops throughout the year. I am a member of the Tywi Valley Open Studios Arts Trail, in which I open my studio doors to the public, giving them an opportunity to see how and where I work plus a chance to see my artworks up close. I have also been attending local markets and craft fairs over the last year or so. It is a great way to show my work and meet my customers. I class myself as a self taught multiple medium artist. I use acrylic and watercolour paints, gouache, oils, inks, pen and pencil, air dry clay for ooak crafts. I also enjoy jewellery making, needle felting, decoupage and image transfer, lino printing, gel plate printing, cyanotype printing, pyrography, pressed flower art, and frame loom weaving. As you can tell, I love allsorts!

Over the past 15 years, along with bringing up my two children, I have run my preloved/reloved furniture and homewares business 'MissElaineous', where I have used a variety of painting techniques to transform neglected pieces. Not only has this given me an income, it has given me the confidence to use these skills as an artist. I have a passion for textured landscapes and seascapes, aswell as florals and wildlife. I am also exploring more intuitive painting leaning towards abstracts.

My work has been described as uplifting and emotive. I enjoy the bold colours and textures of acrylics and oils and I also love the delicate nature of watercolours. With a backround of creative vocations such as floral art, graphic design and reloved furniture, I have clocked up many artistic years! My work is available to purchase straight from the studio, via Facebook, Instagram and Etsy and some markets and local shops/cafes.
A number of years ago I had a solo exhibition based at Barry Hospital via The Hearth Gallery, Cardiff and Cardiff & Vale University Health Boards 'Arts for Health & Wellbeing' programme. It is an absolute pleasure to be able to showcase my work in such a setting and I hope that it has a positive impact and that others can be inspired to use art and crafts for their own health & wellbeing.
2025 solo exhibition at Llanwrtyd and District Heritage & Arts Centre and also exhibited with their open art competitions over the past three years.
2025 exhibition at the Coffee & Art Gallery, The Old College Inn, Derwydd, near Llandybie, together with other members of the Tywi Valley Open Studios. A collaborative exhibition showing the diverse range of arts and crafts by artists living and working in the Tywi Valley, all within 15 miles of Llandeilo.
2026... we will see where this year takes me and my creativity! I'm taking a year off from Tywi Valley Open Studios but hope to have Open Studio weekends throughout the year instead. Please keep an eye out for Open Studio dates on my social media pages.
